Playing with Taiji

Description

Taiji embodies the great principle of working harmoniously with the polarities of yin and yang to bring balance, vitality, and circulation of energy. In this Qi Training, we’ll delve into the philosophical roots of Taiji to build a grounded understanding of how this principle and how it applies to our lives and practice. John Munro will guide us through a range of simple practices and focuses we can use to strengthen our polarity and bring a more dynamic flow of energy into our qigong practice.  We will explore how the use of our breath, speed, orientation, and other characteristics of our movement affects the qualities of yin and yang within our body and energy, and how applying these skillfully results in more vibrant energy both within our practice and within our lives. The exercises we will explore in this session can be used as standalone practices and will also give examples of principles that can be applied broadly to many types of practice, including qigong practices you are already familiar with, giving the opportunity to bring new insight, texture, and dynamism to your existing practice.
