Unlocking the Mind of Yi with Francesco Garri Garripoli

Join us on Saturday, January 24, from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM EST for Unlocking the Mind of Yi. Led by Francesco Garri Garripoli, this 2.5-hour workshop will explore the often overlooked “mind” aspect of Qigong practice. Drawing from ancient Taoist teachings on “Yi,” Francesco will guide participants through accessible insights and specific movement and mental exercises designed to help activate Qi more deeply and unlock our latent mental abilities. 

About the Workshop

We all have been trained to understand that Qigong is an empowering combination of gentle and specific movements, focused and intentional breathing, and a focus on the mind. It is this third and somewhat elusive aspect of Qigong that the ancient Taoists referred to as “Yi” that Francesco will explore in this very interesting and deeply empowering approach to the often overlooked “mind” aspect of our Qigong practice. 

In a world where the term “mindfulness” is used so liberally, Francesco’s approach to Qigong helps us unravel and unpack what the ancients meant when they emphasized “mind” in personal practice. Just as a stool requires three strong legs to stand, glossing over the mental component of Qigong leads to exercises that are breath and movement oriented and therefore lacking the deep potential of “activating” Qi. So many enjoy the practice of Qigong yet are missing this powerful one-third of their practice and thus not fully activating life force energy within them or their relationship with Shen. 

Francesco will use a combination of very specific moving and mental exercises to help clear the mind while discussing complex topics in very accessible ways that help us make sense of what it truly means to unlock our latent mental abilities. The ancient Taoist term “Yi” is quite misunderstood and, as such, leads to many practitioners not fully grasping the power of our mind to help activate Qi in what he refers to as the “Qi Effect.”
